Immigration Day

On Wednesday Cris and his classmates got to make an imaginary trip from Europe to Ellis Island for Immigration Day. Haakon (aka Cris) was immigrating to the US from Norway with his pet monkey and dog.

A few immigrants in the waiting room at Ellis Island.

The doctors check Cris out and make sure he doesn't have small pox or another communicable disease.

These poor boys got sent back to the Old Country because one had small pox and one was crazy. Cris' monkey was quarentined indefinately because it had fleas by a mean immigration official (his mom).

Cris writing about his immigration expereince. After this the kids and parents enjoyed a HUGE feast of ethnic foods. What a great day!

Because we all know that Norwegian immigrants commonly had monkeys with them.
